This is probably the most comprehensive book on Ivan Panin’s numberics available. Starting with his work, the authors range through a broad range of aspects of the field, with many a pleasant surprise for the reader. Much of this material is brand new; the bulk of it is not only a thorough examination of Ivan Panin’s studies, but well-considered investigation as to where it can lead. Here you will meet up with the meanings of numbers, gematria, primes, how mathematical expressions are to be treated, and well-considered inroads into the world of geometry, both two and three dimensional. There are side-by-side comparisons between Panin's Greek text and both Westcott &amp; Hort’s (of his day) and Nestlé-Aland’s (of ours). The classic writings of Panin are all here, as well as many obscure samples. More than 350 pages of exploration, liberally illustrated, await the reader. It is evident that the writers were exploring their subject even as the book was being put together. As each subject is addressed, they continually arrive at the conclusion that more investigation is wanting and welcome. There are no grand doctrinal points being made or axes set up for grinding here; there is simply page after page of fascinating phenomena vying for attention. Despite the title, the authors appear to have taken the ‘proving’ aspect of numerics for granted and moved on to exploring. All in all, this is a most refreshing read.

Some one and one-third centuries have passed since Darby penned his introduction to the French version of the Scriptures (1881), which introduction was translated into English for the 1889 English version which has in the interim become known as “the JND translation”.  The translation itself needs no introduction, being one of the top five English translations to date, despite many valiant and admirable efforts.  With the advent of the internet, there was a sudden need to have God`s Word freely available online for discussions, websites, articles, and the like.  The immediate problem was that all the mainstream translations had a copyright, and thus could not be used.  Aside from the KJV, only two suitable translations stood out from the crowd:  Young`s Literal Translation, and the JND translation. What was lacking was the availability of printed copies that would answer a growing demand for readers not familiar with archaic forms, who often reject 'out-of-hand' any translation utilizing thou sayest or the such language.  Thus this work. Copy and quote from it all you like; only the publishing rights are retained.  It is submitted as precisely what is found in the JND, with only the archaic forms made contemporary.  The word order, punctuation, paragraphing, indeed every possible detail has remained faithful to its predecessor.  Only the footnotes could not be included in this edition, yet we trust they may be included in the future.  This edition has one of the most comprehensive selections of Darby's introductions available.  Several of these have been edited to suit the present work, the editing consisting solely of removing some of the more technical references to textual criticism and various manuscripts, the which subjects are beyond the scope of this edition.  The contemporary updates made to the text have not been applied to the introductions; they retain the archaic language.  Appendix I gives a comprehensive list of every word that was changed with the reason for doing so.  Nothing arbitrary has muddied these waters.  The distinctions between thee and you and the like were not lost, and are carefully marked.  For those already familiar with the JND translation and who have grown to love it, this edition will read as smoothly as the original. This is a Bible you will constantly find yourself reaching for.

New Darby Version: Holy Bible

The New Darby Version combines one of the best translations made in the English language (1884) with the ease of modern speaking. The distinctions made between using you (plural) and thou (singular) are still there; the pronouns are marked for you. In fact, nothing has been changed except vocabulary words; the New Darby Version is as precisely like his original as possible. It is available for reproduction in large parts as only the copyright for the publication of the whole is retained. John Nelson Darby's translation combines a breathtakingly accurate rendition combined with easy readability and beauty; it is a copy that you will find yourself reaching for again and again. Suitable for study, leisure reading, or public forums, this edition is neither a scan nor a copy; it is a word-for-word transcription and the result of years of work. The purist who loves JND's archaic version can flip to the Appendix and find a list of every single word that has been changed. The only thing this edition lacks (stay tuned though) is Darby's footnotes; however it does have the most complete collection of his Bible introductions ever published in English. To present as comfortable a read as possible in one volume, the Old Testament is in nicely sized 9-point, and the New Testament has a generous 10-point type. Darby's translated directly from the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek without depending on a 'critical text' (a particular work presenting the best possible combination of variant readings) in a day when this demanded actually going and visiting each manuscript where it was being held. His Greek prowess was legendary, and there are many passages in the New Testament where the sense given in his translation is still head and shoulders above the rest . . . after 130 years. Reluctant to displace the King James Version in his day, he held back from publishing the Bible in English until near the end of his life; his German and French translations are landmarks. This translation comes very highly recommended by those who read as a daily habit and require a translation that both conveys the beauty of scripture and the precision of meaning.

This is Ivan Panin’s classic Greek Critical Text (1934) side-by-side with his English translation (1914, revised 1935, edited for contemporary language 2014) in extra large 16-point type. The text has been corrected word-for-word, resulting in the single most accurate offering of this man’s work put together to date. Both Ivan Panin’s Greek critical text and his English translation are of the highest caliber and both rank at the top their respective fields. The Editors have felt that great service would be provided in putting together an edition suitable for scholar and reader alike; comfortable to read and easy to understand.
It is difficult to summarize Panin’s work because most know him primarily as the investigator into Numerics. His biography is provided in the Preface, so here suffice it to say that Panin was a literary scholar fully competent to translate the Scriptures and determine textual readings with or without Numerics. The discovery of Numerics and the subsequent willingness to devote a lifetime to the systematic study of it was most fortuitously done by one of perhaps a handful qualified for such an undertaking.
A perusal of his other works will quickly demonstrate that Ivan Panin’s keen mind and penchant for leaving no stone unturned, combined with an alarmingly stringent diligence, produced an ideal marriage between overwhelming task and undaunted courage. His Introduction at the beginning as well as his Papers following the text give example after example of how he specifically applied numeric methods to questioned readings. Whether one subscribes to his views or not, he produced two masterpieces in his Greek Critical Text and English translation; this work presents the full scope of both together.
