The New Darby Version combines one of the best translations made in the English language (1884) with the ease of modern speaking. The distinctions made between using you (plural) and thou (singular) are still there; the pronouns are marked for you. In fact, nothing has been changed except vocabulary words; the New Darby Version is as precisely like his original as possible. It is available for reproduction in large parts as only the copyright for the publication of the whole is retained. John Nelson Darby's translation combines a breathtakingly accurate rendition combined with easy readability and beauty; it is a copy that you will find yourself reaching for again and again. Suitable for study, leisure reading, or public forums, this edition is neither a scan nor a copy; it is a word-for-word transcription and the result of years of work. The purist who loves JND's archaic version can flip to the Appendix and find a list of every single word that has been changed. The only thing this edition lacks (stay tuned though) is Darby's footnotes; however it does have the most complete collection of his Bible introductions ever published in English. To present as comfortable a read as possible in one volume, the Old Testament is in nicely sized 9-point, and the New Testament has a generous 10-point type. Darby's translated directly from the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek without depending on a 'critical text' (a particular work presenting the best possible combination of variant readings) in a day when this demanded actually going and visiting each manuscript where it was being held. His Greek prowess was legendary, and there are many passages in the New Testament where the sense given in his translation is still head and shoulders above the rest . . . after 130 years. Reluctant to displace the King James Version in his day, he held back from publishing the Bible in English until near the end of his life; his German and French translations are landmarks. This translation comes very highly recommended by those who read as a daily habit and require a translation that both conveys the beauty of scripture and the precision of meaning.

This edition, suitable for researcher and reader alike, includes the full introductions, notes, and papers in which Panin goes into great detail regarding his methodology and the precise manner in which “Numerics” is used to accurately assess the text.
It is difficult to summarize Panin’s work because many know him only as the investigator into Numerics. Suffice it to say that Panin was a Harvard-educated literary scholar fully competent to translate the Scriptures and determine textual readings with or without Numerics. The discovery of Numerics and the subsequent willingness to devote a lifetime to the systematic study of it takes Panin’s work into a category of its own; one that adds a new dimension to an already established scholarly work. It is worth noting that NA28, as scholars continue to improve it, has consistently been getting closer to Panin’s critical text of a century ago.
As to the setting up of the parallel text, it is somewhat fortunate that the spacial requirements for English and Greek are so similar. The page breaks, as far as possible, are cut off at the same word in both languages. However, often a sentence occurs which has the subject at the end in Greek and at the beginning in English, so this convention, while adhered to as far as possible, often must yield to the form of the texts, from which this edition has not deviated.
Panin published his English translation in 1914, revised it in 1935, and published his critical Greek text in 1934. The twenty year interim was one of intense study of the ordering of Scriptural Numerics; many insights were gained, and improvements are readily evident in the later publishing of the Greek. The Editors have used his English formatting of paragraphs in virtually every case, and in this edition, reformatted his Greek paragraphing to match his English for clarity.
The reader then has available what is quite likely the best parallel version of the New Testament available today, comfortably formatted and in easily readable 12-point type.

Panin's Bible Chronology is a classic work of scholarship on Biblical chronology. Ivan Panin's Bible Chronology Restored is a word-for-word transcription of the 1939 edition of his 1923 printing. The formatting is duplicated as well as the exact (often archaic) spelling and expressions. Unlike the 1950 'revision', this is faithful to his original work with only the typographical errors corrected. Panin begins with nine Canons by which to approach chronology, providing an approach to the subject which is designed to eliminate useless debate. His second section is a "List" of every given date in the Bible that is relevant. This reference guide, the core of years of research, is valuable to both his and anyone else's research. The third section is a guided tour through the numerics woven throughout the Chronology. While he could write volumes on the subject, he limits himself to clear examples that have specific impact. The length of this book is deceptively short for the subject matter. However, the reader will find it concentrated and distilled, demanding one's full attention. The facts are detailed and internally consistent, the "Canons" are salient and would hold up in any court, and the numerics have their own distict appeal. An appendix has been added that shows side-by-side his dates and those of Bishop Ussher, as well as some of Edwin Thiele's conclusions in the section of the Kings. Those familiar with the classic problems of chronology that are revisited by each generation of scholars will appreciate the depth and range of Panin's often unique approach.
