Joachim 'Jochen' Peiper, uno dei più famosi e valorosi ufficiali tedeschi che militarono nella Waffen SS, ma anche un personaggio descritto normalmente dalla storiografia ufficiale come un mostro, come uno tra i più feroci criminali di guerra tedeschi della Seconda Guerra Mondiale. E' sempre molto difficile dover parlare del soldato Peiper, anche volendo affrontare l'argomento solo da un punto di vista strettamente storico-militare. L'intento di questo lavoro è principalmente quello di ripercorrere la carriera militare di Joachim Peiper e descrivere le azioni militari in cui furono impegnati i reparti della Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler al suo comando, azioni che ancora oggi sono studiate ed analizzate in tutte le accademie militari del mondo e a cui sono continuamente dedicate nuovi studi e nuove pubblicazioni storico-militari. Queste azioni furono condotte da uomini coraggiosi e temerari, condotti in battaglia da comandanti di valore, non da criminali fanatici assetati di sangue. Furono sicuramente commessi degli abusi, dei crimini contro i prigionieri nemici, le popolazioni civili, tutte inevitabili conseguenze della guerra, degli scontri tra reparti nemici, combattuti a ridosso dei centri abitati e tutto questo lo diciamo senza voler minimamente giustificare o esaltare queste azioni esecrande. Peiper, a partire dal 1943, fu sempre posto al comando di raggruppamenti motorizzati e corazzati della Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler, fin dai combattimenti sul fronte di Kharkov tra il febbraio e il marzo del 1943, al comando del III.(gep.)/2, passando per i combattimenti per il saliente di Kursk, la nuova campagna sul fronte ucraino tra l'autunno e l'inverno del 1943-44 al comando dell'SS-Pz.Rgt.1, i combattimenti sul fronte di Normandia, la controffensiva nelle Ardenne, fino agli ultimi combattimenti sul fronte ungherese e in Austria. L'analisi delle varie battaglie viene raccontata attraverso le testimonianze dei diretti protagonisti, i rapporti di guerra del periodo, i documenti originali, accompagnando il tutto come sempre con un eccezionale corredo iconografico, mappe, documenti e immagini, provenienti dagli archivi militari di tutto il mondo e dalle principali collezioni private, per rendere ancora più avvincente la trattazione degli argomenti. Il Gruppo Corazzato "M" "Leonessa" della G.N.R. costitu&#65533; un unicum tra le Forze Armate della Repubblica Sociale Italiana. Infatti, fu il pi&#65533; consistente e operativo dei pochi reparti dotati di mezzi corazzati, anche di circostanza, operando soprattutto nella lotta antipartigiana. Ma il "Leonessa" discendeva direttamente dall'omonimo Gruppo Carri che, prima dell'Armistizio, faceva parte della 1a Divisione Corazzata "M" della M.V.S.N., costituita da personale fedele al Duce, rinominata dopo il 25 luglio 136a Divisione Corazzata "Centauro II". Dopo la resa italiana, tutto il materiale della Divisione fu incamerato dai tedeschi, inclusi i Panzer III, i Panzer IV e gli Stug.III del "Leonessa". Ma parte degli effettivi della Divisione rifiutarono di combattere contro gli ex-alleati e, rimesse le "M" rosse e la camicia nera si misero in cerca di armi e carri armati nelle caserme italiane ormai vuote, per continuare la guerra accanto ai tedeschi.

In 1799 Suvorov was given command of the Austro-Russian army and sent to drive France's forces out of Italy. Suvorov and Napoleon never met in battle because Napoleon was campaigning in Egypt at the time. However, Suvorov erased practically all of the gains Napoleon had made for France during 1796 and 1797, defeating some of the republic's top generals: Moreau at Cassano d'Adda, MacDonald at Trebbia, and Joubert at Novi. He went on to capture Milan and became a hero to those opposed to the French Revolution. French troops were driven from Italy, save for a handful in the Maritime Alps and around Genoa. Suvorov himself gained the rank of "Prince of the House of Savoy" from the King of Sardinia. After the victorious Italian theater, Suvorov planned to march on Paris, but instead was ordered to Switzerland to join up with the Russian forces already there and drive the French out. The Russian army under General Korsakov was defeated by Mass&#65533;na at Z&#65533;rich before Suvorov could reach and unite with them. Surrounded by Mass&#65533;na's 80,000 French troops, Suvorov with a force of 18,000 Russian regulars and 5,000 Cossacks, exhausted and short of provisions, led a strategic withdrawal from the Alps while fighting off the French...

The Armored Group "M" "Leonessa" of G.N.R. constituted a unicum among the Armed Forces of the Italian Social Republic. In fact, it was the most consistent and operational of the few units equipped with armored vehicles, operating above all in the anti-partisan struggle. But the "Leonessa" descended directly from the homonymous Tanks Group which, before the Armistice, was part of the 1st Armored Division "M" of the MVSN, consisting of personnel loyal to the Duce, renamed after July 25th 136th Armored Division "Centaur 2nd". After the Italian surrender, all the material of the Division was confiscated by the Germans, including the Panzer III, the Panzer IV and the Stug.III of the "Lioness". But part of the Division's staff refused to fight against the former allies and, putting the red "M's" and the black shirt back in search of weapons and tanks in the now empty Italian barracks, to continue the war alongside the Germans.
