The Supervisor Training Curriculum for Developmental Disability Organizations - Evidence-Based Ways to Promote Work Quality and Enjoyment Among Support Staff
Description:
DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND
The Supervisor Training Curriculum trains current and prospective supervisors in evidence-based strategies of supervising and motivating staff working with people with intellectual disabilities. Based on three decades of applied research, each management strategy presented herein has been tested and known to work in human service settings. The Curriculum follows a performance and competency-based format, requiring trainees to demonstrate knowledge acquired through role plays and other classroom activities as well as on-the-job demonstration of skills.
NEED FOR THE SUPERVISOR TRAINING CURRICULUM
Most supervisors in the human service setting did not expect to be in a managerial role and are not formally trained to be managers. However, supervisors, especially in the direct support field where is a high turnover rate, have a significant effect on the quality of work performance among staff and the quality of services ultimately delivered to people with intellectual disabilities. There is currently no training curriculum available for supervisors in these areas despite the topic being so relevant in human service settings.
WHAT'S IN THE SUPERVISOR TRAINING CURRICULUM
The Supervisor Curriculum consists of: (1) A link to a PowerPoint Trainer's slides, downloadable to your computer (2) Perfect bound training Curriculum, including visual aides to guide training; an introduction sheet to each training module identifying skills to be taught; activity sheets and competency checks including quizzes, in-class activities, and materials for role plays and on-the-job checks; (3) Perfect bound Trainee Resource Guide for reference and note taking. Users purchase as many Trainee Resource Guides as the number of trainees.
