Urban Cave

Urban Cave is a story about the resilience and humanity of people who live unsheltered on the other side of conventional society. It is about a group of individuals and the full spectrum of their lives, rather than just their deprivations. The images are in response to the beauty of a place, a people, and the dignity, determination, and perseverance reflected in their culture.The train tunnel has been evacuated, the Batcave has been sealed off and the people dispersed but Urban Cave preserves the story of these displaced people, the unusual beauty of the home they made and the strength and determination with which they lived. Urban Cave is hardcover, 128 pages in length with 86 color photographs and an introduction by Alison Morely, Director of Photography and Photojournalism at the International Center for Photography (ICP) in New York. The book also give voice to its subjects with first person commentary from members of the community.
