"Sicarios: Latin American Assassins" was published as the winner of the 2011 FotoEvidence Book Award, recognizing a photographer whose work demonstrates courage and commitment in the pursuit of social justice. "Sicarios: Latin American Assassins" takes the viewer into the underworld of the assassin in Guatemala, where society has been savaged by a culture of murder for hire. Vendors who don't like competitors can have them killed for less than $50. Hit men operate with impunity in a country where ninety-five percent of murders remain unsolved. Javier Arcenillas comes face to face with several young assassins, the bodies they leave in their wake, and the people who struggle with the consequences. Majid Saeedi's "Life in War" turns a humanistic lens on people who live in war torn Afghanistan. Speaking the language, Saeedi embedded with the population rather than alien forces. The war is present but only on the periphery, in boys swimming off the rusting hulk of a tank or Afghan soldiers in training but, for a people at war for 40 years, daily life goes on and this is Saeedi's focus in "Life in War." "Life in War" reveals a level of access unattainable to Western photojournalists. Saeedi's beautiful black and white photographs evoke the best tradition of humanistic photography, taking us from ironic images of public officials sitting on couches outdoors to witness the destruction of seized opium, into the intimacy of a bath house where men bathe. His photographs are sometimes subtle, as when a woman in focus in the background, gazes with trepidation at her older husband. And sometime direct, as in a portrait of a young boy looking into the camera and flexing his muscles in a clear expression of his aspiration to become a body builder. Saeedi's photographs will endure and provide a bittersweet document of life in Afghanistan long after the endless images of war have lost their significance.

Destino, meaning "destination" or "destiny" in Spanish, tells the story of undocumented Central American migrants and their perilous journey by freight train across Mexico, as they attempt to enter the United States in pursuit of a better life. In Destino, Michelle Frankfurter seeks to capture the experience of people who struggle to control their own destiny when confronted by extreme circumstances. Destino is both a social commentary on one of the biggest global issues of our times and an epic adventure tale. It conveys the experience of a generation of exiles, driven by poverty and the dysfunction of failed states, traveling across a landscape that has become increasingly dangerous, heading towards a precarious future as a last resort. Frankfurter takes the viewer beyond what is expected. She humanizes the real-life individuals behind the polarizing political debate and draws attention to the underlying causes behind this migration. She wants the viewer to see and feel the humanity of these people who seek no more than the security and prosperity that they imagine we live with in the United States.

Occupied Pleasures by Tanya Habjouqa is a testimony to Palestinian resilience as they pursue simple pleasures in the face of the indignities and absurdities of prolonged occupation. Inspired by Martin Parr, Tanya documents "fringe pleasures," from the flying parkour boys of Qalqilya to the surfers and break-dancers of Gaza. She reveals also the quiet moments of release and escape. As Dr. Laleh Khalili says about Occupied Pleasures in her introduction, "We also need imagery that captures the poetry of everyday life, and not only the prose of strife. We need the fleeting wash of pleasure to color our memories in the interstices of devastation, ruination and grief... We need to remember people embodied in their flesh and not just reflected through the lens of news, or prejudice, or stereotype." Habjouqa recalls a trip to Gaza, where one industrious man refused to be deprived of his right to love and snuck his young Jordanian bride through one of the smuggling tunnels which link the beleaguered coastal enclave to Egypt. He said, "It was like a Bollywood film, her standing there and trembling, covered in earth ....I ran to her and covered her with my kisses." That moment stayed with Habjouqa and infused in her a desire to capture those little nuggets of happiness and light that Palestinians literally find at the end of the tunnel. Occupied Pleasures is a hardcover edition that measures 10 x 10 inches, with 128 pages and 68 color photographs. It includes an introduction by Dr. Laleh Khalili, Professor in Middle Eastern Politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, and a foreword from Nathalie Handal. The book is embellished with original poetry by Najwan Darwish, Sousan Hammad and Hind Shoufani. It includes several Arabic language proverbs drawn from, "Popular Proverbs, an Entrance into Palestinian Culture" by Nassar B. Isleem.

Working with Human Rights Watch (HRW) award-winning photojournalist Marcus Bleasdale traveled to remote areas of CAR where once friendly neighbors were in open conflict fuelled by competing political forces. Human Rights Watch Director of Emergencies, Peter Bouckaert, who traveled with Bleasdale contributes three essays to "The Unravelling" exploring the roots of the conflict and describing what he and Bleasdale encountered on their journey deep into CAR. Nicholas Kristof, of the New York Times, contributes a foreword reflecting on the failure of the media to bring the story of CAR to light and on the world's continuing inability to address recurring cases of mass violence. The powerful and provocative photography in "The Unravelling" contributes to a rich tradition of humanitarian photojournalism, having receiving the Robert Capa Gold Medal in addition to the FotoEvidence Book Award. On April 25th, 2015 Nepal was hit by an earthquake of magnitude 7.8 that killed almost 9,000 people and injured more than 22,000. In the aftermath of that fateful day in April, almost three million people were made homeless, as hundreds of thousands of homes and other buildings were turned to rubble. In the months following the earthquake, aftershocks continued to hit the country on an almost daily basis; a magnitude 7.2 hit the country in May adding more devastation. The book Endurance by Omar Havana is a humble tribute to and a legacy for those who are working hard to see their nation rises again. It tells the story of Nepali people's resilience, the story of a life spirit that spreads, like the smiles on their faces, over the streets filled with debris and the ruins of their homes. Endurance includes over 70 black and white photographs shot across Nepal, immediately after the earthquake and in the months following. Italian film director Bernardo Bertolucci, who used images from Endurance for a fundraising campaign in Rome to help Nepal, wrote the foreword.
