Grain Free Haven began with a problem: a couple who loved to cook together, but who continued to gain weight and experience other diet-related health problems.

Mary Anne Young and her husband David Haywood Young switched to a low-carb lifestyle, which helped with many things. However, David still had digestive and other problems. The culprit, as they eventually realized: wheat!

But wheat wasn't the only problem. Together, experimenting as they went, they embarked on a grain free lifestyle. Mary Anne's cooking blog, featuring meals, snacks, and drinks she prepared as they moved across the country, grew to include hundreds of recipes.

Eventually Mary Anne gave up her job with the federal government and began preparing foods for people beyond her family. The company she formed, Grain Free Haven, has been selling grain free products at farmers' markets for over two years.

This cookbook, the first in a planned series, contains recipes for many of the products she sells--the "staples" needed for those who want to practice a grain free (and sugar free!) lifestyle but who don't want to give up the foods they've grown up eating. Eating should be fun and food should be satisfying!
