The final letter in the collection, written on February 14, 1920, provides a wonderfully romantic ending. Part 1 of the book gives historical background on WWI, Spanish Influenza, life in rural North Carolina, and an introduction to the people and places that appear in the letters; the letters, about 100 in total, are transcribed in Part 2.
