Wolf Creek

John Hendrix witnesses a mafia style killing while hunting on Sal Rossi's land. Hendrix suspects that Rossi, a corrupt union boss, is involved in the murder. Concerned that his family would be the target of Rossi's henchmen, which happened five years ago, Hendrix doesn't want to tell the county sheriff. The sheriff collects evidence that places Hendrix at the scene of the murder and when another murder occurs the sheriff arrests Hendrix. He escapes when the car transporting him to jail is involved in an accident. The chief deputy learns that the sheriff also has a motive to commit murder and when authorities are about to confront the sheriff, he has a heart attack and is rushed to the hospital. The sheriff's physician is incompetent to treat heart attacks and a major effort by hospital personnel to save the sheriff's life is complicated by hospital politics.
