The University of St Andrews Centre for Syrian Studies was founded in November 2006. The mission of the Centre is to foster scholarship and dialogue about contemporary Syriaùparticularly in the areas of economic and political reform and security and foreign policy issuesùas well as exchanges between Syrian and other scholars. Centre fellows do research in St Andrews and Syria and their findings are disseminated through a website, periodic conferences, and a publishing program. The director of the Centre is Professor Raymond Hinnebusch, and the Centre is funded by the Asfari Foundation with offices in London and Aberdeen.
