Giant-Cell Arteritis: One Man's Exciting Experience
Description:
This is the story of one 90-year old man's Giant-Cell Arteritis told in great detail for the instruction of other GCA patients. GCA -- also known as temporal arteritis --is not life-shortening and is readily treatable but starts as an emergency requiring immediate treatment. Prolonged treatment with prednisone requires a cooperative effort of the patient and the physician. Some of my understanding of my experience may differ from that of some doctors. This is my report of my experience with GCA, including the reading of medical literature and the reading of the experiences of other GCA and PMR patients. Work with your physician and enjoy the excitement. For me, GCA has been a fun hobby from age 88 to 91 but it is now going away - going into remission. May it leave behind only lessons for others
