Based around the diary of crew member Paul Chapman, this book follows the daily dramas of a paramedic accident and emergency ambulance crew in Newcastle as they respond to their 999 calls. It provides an insight into the people who join the paramedics and the medical challenges of the job. It also reveals how they cope emotionally with constant exposure to gruesome events. The book accompanies a BBC television series of the same name.
