Description:

Introduction:Welcome to the Instructor's Manual and Test Bank for the 8th Edition of Social Gerontology: A Multidisciplinary Perspective. The purpose of this manual is to provide material that will enrich instruction using this text. The first half of this text consists of an Instructor's manual, arranged by chapter. Within each chapter is an outline, followed by a summary of the main points covered in the chapter, a bulleted list of learning objectives, a list of key terms and key people with corresponding textbook page numbers, discussion topic suggestions, classroom activities, and student project ideas, suggested films, websites and additional resources. The discussion topics, classroom activities, films, websites and resources are by no means an exhaustive list, but aim to provide both suggestions to get the first-time instructor started as well as fresh ideas for those who have taught this material numerous times. The second half of the manual is a Test Bank, again arranged by chapter, containing 50 multiple choice, true or false, short answer, and essay questions for each chapter. Below each question is the answer, a difficulty rating from 1 to 3 (3 being the most difficult), and page reference to locate the question's content in the textbook. These test questions are provided to assist the instructor with designing quizzes and exams appropriate for the purposes of the course, whether meant to serve as an ungraded check-in or as a graded final exam. During the process of resource-checking/updating and searching for additional resources, it became clear that there are boundless resources for teaching gerontology and not everything I found could be squeezed into this instructor manual. One resource worth mentioning here is the monthly Teaching Gerontology e-Newsletter, edited by Harry Moody, which provides user-friendly information about recent research findings, interesting materials, and idea-provoking classroom activities.
