Lesen mit Gewinn: A Vocabulary-Building German Reader (English and German Edition)

"Lesen mit Gewinn" has been prepared in response to a definite need. It has become clear to the author that the standard transition from grammar to reading not only occurs too late but is also often unsatisfactory because most intermediate readers are too difficult for the second year. "Lesen mit Gewinn" is designed to make the transition from grammar to reading easier, smoother, and more pleasant, while at the same time introducing the student to recognized authors of varying degrees of distinction, to diverse styles and genres of writing, and to relevant problems and experiences reflecting a German background. The emphasis is solely on a systematic increase of active German vocabulary, thus not only facilitating further reading ability but also providing a widened basis for simple speaking and writing.
