The USAAF 52nd Fighter Group enjoyed an outstanding record in World War II, but to date its story has never been told. 
Activated in January 1941, it moved to England in July 1942 for an assignment with the Eighth Air Force. It flew combat missions in Spitfires to France during the summer of 1942 before being reassigned to the invasion force attacking North Africa in November 1942. After moving to North Africa, it was assigned to the Twelfth Air Force and was again equipped with Spitfires. As part of the Twelfth Air Force, it flew combat missions in the Tunisian campaign, and during the invasion of Sicily. In mid-1944, the 52nd was reassigned to the Fifteenth Air Force and converted to P-51 Mustangs. During the remainder of the war, it flew bomber escort and strafing missions to targets in Italy, France, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Hungary, Rumania, and Yugoslavia. 
For its outstanding service the Group was twice awarded the Distinguished Unit Citation. During its long campaign, the Group destroyed more than 425 enemy aircraft in aerial combat and damaged 135 plus many more on the ground. The 52nd Fighter Group produced 21 Aces.

In this book, the author presents the first inventory of research done in Persian on Iranian languages and dialects (excluding Persian). Aside from linguistic works, it also includes publications in Iranian languages and dialects, i.e., local dialect poetry and folklore and publications on these. Since Iranian national dialectology has seen an enormous upsurge during the last two or three decades, and because publications from before 1980 are sufficiently known to international scholarship, this work concentrates on books and articles published after 1980 and contains approximately 3,600 titles. Most of these concern Iranian languages and dialects spoken in Iran, such as Taleshi, Gilaki, Semnani, Kurdish or Lori (altogether, 27 languages or dialect groups). Aside from this, local varieties of Persian, historical dialects such as that of the Fahlaviyyat poetry, and non-Iranian minority languages and dialects such as Azeri Turkic or Arabic are also covered. Iranian languages and dialects spoken in Afghanistan and Tajikistan, or works published there, are also considered, but constitute only a small part of the publications. The volume aims to make accessible to international scholarship the diversity and richness of Persian publications on and in Iranian languages and dialects. The arrangement of the 27 linguistic groups follows a combination of genetic and areal/regional features that is explained in the introduction. The publications relating to each of these groups are divided into generalities, phonology, morphology/syntax, lexicon, and literature, sometimes with additional subdivisions. Each title is translated, or its main contents are summarized. The systematic part of the bibliography is supplemented by an alphabetical inventory (according to the authors' names). The introduction also offers an account of Iranian dialectology, with its history and main concepts, and is followed by an overview of recent non-Persian scholarship on Iranian languages and dialects. The volume concludes with an index of all names of places, tribes, and languages that occur in it.The work presented here is the first of its kind and breaks new ground in Iranian dialectology and bibliography. It aims to provide a reference work for all disciplines that are interested in the languages spoken in Iran: Iranian, Turkic, Semitic and Kurdish studies. The comprehensive coverage of literature in minority languages and dialects also has the potential to provide new impulses to literary and folklore studies in these disciplines.

Das Zazaki wurde somit in den letzten Jahren zu einer "neu entdeckten" Schriftsprache.Diese uberarbeitete und erweiterte Ausgabe der Dissertation von Ludwig Paul ist die erste umfassende Dokumentation zur Grammatik und den Dialekten der Zazaki-Sprache und somit ein einmaliges Referenzwerk fur wissenschaftliche Institutionen, aber auch fur Muttersprachler. Das Werk gibt eine kurze Ubersicht uber die Sprache im allgemeinen, uber den Forschungsstand, sowie uber Land und Leute. Es folgen eine ausfuhrliche Grammatik des Dialektes von Cermik-Siverek, ein Uberblick uber die Grammatik mehrerer weiterer Dialekte, eine Auswahl von Zazaki-Texten mit deutscher Ubersetzung und ein Worterverzeichnis Zazaki-Deutsch, Deutsch-Zazaki.Die Daten fur dieses Werk sammelte der Autor bei mehreren Besuchen in Ostanatolien, vor allem in Interviews mit Kojo Berz (hoher Berg), einem Zazaki-Marchenschreiber, und durch Forschung in der westeuropaischen Zazaki-Diaspora. Dabei stellte er einige Anderungen im Sprachgebrauch gegenuber den grammatischen Darstellungen von Mann / Hadank fest. Die wichtigsten Fortschritte, die Teil I der vorliegenden Arbeit gegenuber den bisherigen Beschreibungen erreichen will, liegen in den Bereichen der Morphologie und Syntax. Vor allem geht es dem Autor darum, neues Sprachmaterial aus einer noch wenig erforschten Sprache aufzuarbeiten und mit moglichst geringem theoretischen Aufwand darzustellen. Ziel ist es, unter anderem das Interesse der typologisch-vergleichenden Sprachwissenschaft zu wecken, bzw. wenigstens die Grundlage zu schaffen, auf der das Zazaki fur die Zwecke der Sprachtypologie nutzbar gemacht werden kann.

It contains a grammatical sketch, transcribed and analysed texts that were recorded in the village, and a lexicon with all words occurring in the text. Early Judaeo-Persian (EJP) is the form of Persian that was spoken by Jews, and written in Hebrew script, in ca. the 8th-12th centuries C.E. Most EJP manuscripts have been found in the Cairo Geniza from the late 19th century onwards. Since the dialectal basis of EJP is different from the Early New Persian (written in Arabic script) that was spoken in north-east Iran at the same time, the study of EJP is essential for an understanding of the development of New Persian. So far, only isolated grammatical features of EJP have been studied. The present work is the first attempt at a comprehensive description of EJP grammar in its own right, based on the study of the most important EJP texts, published and unpublished.
