During his long life, the British Fascist leader Oswald Mosley knew just about everybody worth knowing. Politicians like Winston Churchill, Franklin D Roosevelt and Lloyd George. Leading society hostesses such as Lady Cunard, Mrs Randolph Hearst and Nancy Astor. He also knew Beaverbook, Northcliffe and Rothermere: the three most powerful press barons of their day. Authors like Compton Mackenzie and Henry Williamson were among his friends. And of course, Mosley had a unique personal insight into the characters of Hitler, Mussolini, Goering and the Goebbels. After World War Two, 'fascist' became the F word of political debate to be applied liberally against anyone who left-wing polemicists disliked. But what did it really mean and what did its British supporters really stand for? In this pre-War book written in convenient Question and Answer form by Oswald Mosley, the Leader of the British Union of Fascists challenges the simplistic nature of the stereotypical image. It acknowledges that if he had been elected to power political party warfare would have been brought to an end. Instead of voting for different party labels General Elections would be based on an occupational franchise. Under this system everybody would vote according to their vocation: miners voting for a choice of mining candidates; farm workers for agricultural candidates; health workers for doctors and nurses; and textile workers for textile worker candidates. There would even have been occupational candidates for housewives and pensioners. In this way, Mosley believed that a government of experts elected by experts would be created: a body far better equipped to provide good government than one based on a multi-party geographical franchise. Other questions and answers covered by Mosley in equal depth include freedom of speech; reform of the banking system; and the roles of trade unions in the modern workplace. Fascism may have lost the war of semantics but its true nature deserves closer scrutiny.

Today, the word 'fascism' has become synonymous with political thuggery and persecution. It wasn't always so. Oswald Mosley was the first post-War figure to propose the political union of Europe. As far back as 1947 he had advocated 'Europe a Nation' and by the publication of this book in 1958 the first tentative steps had been made towards a European Economic Community (EEC). Mosley's concept involved a common policy for defence, foreign affairs and economic policy that left all other issues to regional governments to decide in accord with local custom and tradition. It was also firmly based on making Europe, and Europe Overseas, a completely self-sufficient power bloc containing all its own raw materials, energy sources, food production, manufacturing capacity and consumer market. In 'Europe: Faith and Plan' Mosley explains that this would allow a United Europe to withdraw from global markets where the exploitation of cheap Third World labour was undercutting home-based production. This pernicious process was already destroying major European industries promising mass unemployment in the future. Even by the time this book was published it was clear that the Europe being created by old-party politicians and bureaucrats of the EEC was not Mosley's Europe. They saw it as a step towards even greater exposure to global trade in which finance capitalism would be all-powerful. In 'Europe: Faith and Plan' Mosley shows how the economic and financial chaos he predicted could be avoided. The book remains an invaluable guide for the reconstruction of European economies in the 21st. century.

The publication of the first edition of 'The Greater Britain' coincided with the formation of the British Union of Fascists by Oswald Mosley in 1932. It provided hope and inspiration for tens of thousands of British men and women seeking an end to the Great Depression - and an alternative to communism and capitalism. In this important book Mosley set out his plans for a new economic order - and a new system of government to implement it. This would involve Britain's withdrawal from the chaos of world markets into a self-sufficient trading area based on Great Britain and her Empire. It was argued that this alone could free the people from exploitation by International Finance which used cheap labour in Asia and the Far East to undercut British and Empire workers - resulting in the destruction of our major industries. The book also outlines an alternative to 'sham democracy' and its replacement by a British Corporate State. Under this proposal all working people would share the profits they helped to create and they would be empowered by voting along vocational rather than 19th. Century geographic lines. Other chapters deal with 'The State and the Citizen', a new concept of public service, and 'Fascism and its Neighbours', the new movement's attitude towards foreign relations and defence. Any understanding of what the Modern Movement really stood for in Great Britain is incomplete without having read 'The Greater Britain'.

'Mosley: Right or Wrong?' explores the ideas of the man many claimed was the most creative political thinker of the twentieth century. The book uses a concise question and answer format to give Oswald Mosley's solutions to major problems still afflicting the world today.  He suggests an alternative to both Communism and Capitalism and describes his version of a United Europe free from the flaws inherent in today's European Union.  Mosley's answers also cover world nuclear disarmament, a fairer system of ownership of industry, restructured banking that puts the needs of people first and why mass immigration is against the true interests of both Third World and British people. Although first published in 1961, such was his forward thinking that the issues are just as relevant today. Oswald Mosley was possibly the most controversial politician of the twentieth century. Many believe he was the greatest thinker of his age, he was certainly the finest orator of his generation. After service in the Royal Flying Corps in the First World War, he entered parliament determined to ensure good jobs and decent homes for all. He became a Minister in the Labour Government with a special responsibility for ending unemployment. When that Government refused to act he resigned forming first the New Party and later the British Union of Fascists. In the latter he devised policies to create full employment through a British Corporate State and more effective government through an Occupational Franchise. Mosley was almost alone in opposing the Second World War with his policy of 'Peace with Honour, Empire Intact and British People Safe.' For speaking against that War, which was to cost 60-million lives, Mosley and over 1000 of his most active followers were imprisoned without charge or trial in 1940. After the War Mosley formed the Union Movement with a new policy of 'Britain First in Europe a Nation'. His concept of a United Europe was light years ahead of contemporary thinking on European unity and his version is still considered by many to be far superior to the European Union of today. In the last decade of his life, Mosley produced the series of Broadsheets contained in this book. In these remarkable texts he combined intellect with experience as he turned his attention to the problems of recession, irresponsible banking, mass immigration, exploitation of Third World peoples as cheap labour, the global rise in food and energy prices and unrelenting armed conflict throughout the world. If the problems sound familiar, Mosley's solutions contained in these Broadsheets most certainly won't.
