My desire in this unpretentious manuscript is to present a "principia" handbook for Christian students and teachers in the light of their generation's music. Five chapters are dedicated to biblical principles in the context of our contemporary. Biblical principles must be seen before we will see what is happening both in the world and, more specifically, in the conservative churches across our land. If these early chapters are not read, the following chapters will reap no true appreciation and understanding, for out of "principle" comes "conviction;" otherwise conviction is simply a bias or prejudicial belief. The remaining chapters will focus on the subject of music itself. Three chapters deal with the history and philosophy of secular rock, a more pointed analogy of the world-wide powerful influence of the Beatles, and the rise of deva music in rock culture. Another chapter presents the history of music through church history, followed by a chapter presenting the birth and growth of "Gospel Music," and the final chapter deals with the history and present trends in Fundamentalist music. A "Postlude" concludes my thoughts in the light of a present need and future hope. . . .
 The title of the book, Confronting Contemporary Christian Music, may seem somewhat forthright. But we are living in a time when this music has the manner of Goliath, the uncircumcised Philistine, coming before the Camp of God. As young David of old, the giant CCM must be confronted with the stones from the brook of God's Word. It is not only a philosophical battle; it is a spiritual one. May God dispel the fear and timidity among His people, so that they may rise up and confront this carnal, uncircumcised music invading our churches, for it is bold in its sounds and unseparated in its message.

Crucial Truths for Crucial Days, Vol. 2

In these postmodern days of sweeping changes in the churches across the world, the concept of doctrine has been caught in the throes of change as well. The contemporary Church has entered into an existential form of thinking that abhors the absoluteness of dogma and doctrine. This absoluteness is contrary to the subjectivity that public Christianity has fully embraced; it is truly a generation where "everyone does that which is right in his own eyes." It is therefore imperative that the Christian remnant remain true to that which has been committed unto them: the Word of God, the Bible, the Scriptures. This sacred writing is the only infallible revelation of God on the planet, given by God for humanity. If this revelation is rejected, we have no hope of surety or acceptance before God. It is with this hope, and in the light of this hope, that this publication is sent forth as a compendium of the truth of doctrine. It has been written in a catechetical form, though expanded in its answers to present a more detailed response. Nevertheless, it does not pretend to express the fulness of truth that must come with further study. These studies were presented over a year during the Sunday Bible classes at Foundations Bible Collegiate Church. May the Lord bless this compilation for the next generation and prove it to be a blessing to the Christian remnant around the world.

A Catechetical Study for the Remnant

Our spiritual lives should be lives of ascent. Certainly the pinnacle of our spiritual walk is not something which is achieved all at once. Our spiritual experiences with the Lord can be described as different degrees, as a series of steps, as varying stages of growth. The Christian life is to be a continual advancing, a continual going forward and going upward. We should never be standing still; if we remain stationary in one experience or become stranded at one stage, we will find that our spiritual lives suffer and become frustrated. Failing to grow onward, we could eventually go back on God. These Songs of Degrees, also called the "Psalms of Ascent," present a spiritual journey of the soul's growing hunger and intensifying desire for Christ. In this writing we present a simplistic ascent of the redeemed soul through the teachings of the New Testament set in types and shadows from the Psalms of Degrees (Psalms 120-134).
