There’s a difference between the title of a person and the name of a person. The name God is a title. Throughout the Old testament, the children of Israel saw the works or attributes of God, such as Jehovah Jireh (the Lord Provides), Jehovah Rophe (the Lord heals you), Jehovah Shalom (the Lord is my peace), etc. It is only through His name that we are restored into fellowship or communion with God. The world and all other religions know Him as God. But it is only the Christian who has come to know this God as Father, by having a personal relationship with Him, through the personhood of Jesus Christ. The Scriptures say, It is appointed for men to die once, but after this, the judgment (Hebrew 9:27). Considered this example, If I were to commit a crime and appear before a Judge, the judge would penalize me to the full extent of the law. But let say if I was the Judge’s son or daughter that committed this crime and appeared before my father. The Judge would have mercy because of our relationship. The scriptures say that we will all appear before the judgment seat of Christ and then each of us shall give an account of himself to God (Romans 10-12). God would only have mercy or leniency on those who has accepted his redemptive plan for salvation through faith.
