One of the most stimulating and interesting developments in art in recent years has been the print explosion. For the first time, original works of art have become available to a public outside the narrow elitist gallery world.  In the forefront of the print scene have been Edition Alecto whose first ten years this book celebrates. Evolving from the shared enthusiasm of a group of Cambridge undergraduates, the company was established in 1962 and with it first major commission, sixteen etchings on the theme of "The Rake's Progress" by the youthful David Hockney, established the enthusiastic, discriminating and enlightened program that has characterized' Alecto ever since.
