<p>This is a story of a youth growing up in poverty in mid-nineteen fifties. It has everything but the music. This may be read as sad or funny in an entertaining way. However it is true. Only the names have been changed in this story of a struggle to survive the hoodlum environment. It takes place in the 50's where youths were taught respect for flag and family. Some may picture them as dressed in Ivy League garb heading to the prom or a homecoming. But not this side of that generation. These youths may be headed to a prom if they can manage high school. They may be dressed but, lucky if the clothes they're wearing match. Homecomings were when one of them was being release from reform school. Where did this all take place? In an area Baltimore knew as the Tenth Ward. But don't get the wrong idea. These youths were red blooded, rough and tumble, ready for a fight and proud to be Americans.</p>
