About the Author      Sidney Krimsky, husband of Dorothy Krimsky published three books since moving to West Hempstead in 2013.Sid majored in engineering-physics at CCNY, aeronautical engineering at MIT, mechanical engineering and business at Northeastern University, earning three college degrees and a professional engineering license. He worked for the DoD for the last 20 years of his career and studied espionage and cryptography at the NSA. He was certified Level III in R&D and Program Management by the DoD. He graduated from the Air Command and Staff College and the Air War College. He certified 16 weapons systems for Y2K compliance and reported to Col Charles Jones, USAF, who was killed on the United Airlines Flight on 9-11.The first book is entitled From Brooklyn, NY to Brookline, MA Sid and Dorothy lived in Brookline for 48 years. He wrote this book for his children and grandchildren to understand how his parents emigrated from Russia and overcame challenges living in the USA, describes growing up in Coney Island during the 1950s, and lessons learned from his parents. The book describes his education and the challenges he faced during his engineering career including fighting for social justice. The second book is entitled Untaught Math. After his retirement Sid volunteered to assist STEM teachers in the Boston Public Schools for one day a week. The RE-SEED program managed by the College of Education at Northeastern University had 90 STEM retirees. After moving to West Hempstead in 2013, he was unsuccessful in bringing this model of STEM retirees helping students to New York City. He was hired by a Learning Center as a tutor for high school students to excel taking the SAT and ACT math exams. During the six years he learned what students are not learning in math and that was the inspiration for writing the second book.The third book is entitled Leaving Mother Russia and is a description of his relatives, and other families coming to the USA and the challenges they faced.
