This book is an authentic history of Guerneville, Sonoma County, California, from India days until just prior to the Great Depression as seen through the eyes of a native son. The author, C. Raymond Clar, born and reared in Guerneville, California, spent 42 years with the division of Forestry of California. He is author of several books, including QUARTERDECKS AND SPANISH GRANTS (1971) and the major two-volume work, CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT AND FORESTRY. Guerneville is built adjacent to the Russian River. Redwoods grew in the riverbed with such vigor that just a few centuries ago, the valley had the greatest biomass density on the planet.</p>
