Peggy Liechti, Andreas Graf and Lukas Zumsteg have been working in Brugg since 1992, developing an architectural oeuvre with individual buildings that have been conceived with great care and precision. Wirz, Heinz

Miroslav Sik coined the term Analogue Architecture in the late 1980s. It stands for an architectural approach that is oriented towards the existing environment, its atmosphere and the construction tradition in a subtly radical way. It has made Miroslav Sik an unmistakable protagonist in Switzerland and Europe in the last 20 years. He has pursued this dedicated, anti-modernist orientation both as a teacher at the ETH Zürich and in his architectural work, which shows clear continuity since 1988. This monograph compiles his existing buildings and works. Each project pursues his pugnacious architectural stance, which is anything but "modern" or modernist. Peter Märkli has been one of the most striking protagonists of German-Swiss architecture since the founding of the movement in the early 1980s. However, his impressive buildings resist classification; they do not fit any particular scheme or style, as each structure is developed on an intensely intimate level. This results in wholly unique edifices, which provoke questions about humanity's use of architecture as a means of expressing timelessness, rigidity, and permanence. </ul> The terms “analogous architecture” and “old-new architecture” are key aspects of the teaching of Miroslav Šik at the ETH Zurich. During his first period there (1983–1991), Šik worked as Senior Assistant at the Chair of Fabio Reinhart and was in effect the spokesman of an architectural movement that became renowned far beyond the borders of Switzerland and is still influential today. In 1986/1991, the compact movement presented itself to the public with a touring exhibition and an accompanying large-scale “Swiss Box”, including chalk perspective drawings of its projects. Miroslav Šik worked as a Full Professor at the ETH Zurich between 1999 and 2018 during his second period there. Since the 1990s, Šik's theory and teaching have formed an important pillar of Swiss and international architectural history.
