For a number of years Love Enqvist has studied the long-term thought inherent to Utopia. He has visited and observed many of the intentional communities that live today, and this has led to a both personal, often beautiful documentation. He has also taken a look at the communities that did not survive and at the rich literature that exists on intentional communities. Diggers is referring both to an English 17th century movement by the same name and to hippies in the 1960s. Photos are taken at the Open City of Ritoque (Chile), Christiania (Denmark), Auroville (India), Eclectic City (Brazil), Findhorn (Scotland), Arcosanti (USA) and many more. Includes an essay by Felicity D.Scott.

<p>One of the first art directors. Lillian Bassman began as an assistant to Alexey Brodovitch at Harper's Bazaar by the end of the 40's, in the very epicentre of the golden age of the American magazine culture. In 1945 she became art director for the newly launched Junior Bazaar, a fashion magazine focused on teenagers. Junior Bazaar functioned as an experimental workshop and a hot-bed for all kinds of young creative talents. When the magazine folded publication after merely three years, Lillian Bassman instead trained herself to become a photographer and became one of Harper's Bazaars most hired photographers. Today, she is 93 years old and still works every single day.</p>

The postmodernist book designer Carin Goldberg started out her professional career at the end of the 70's as a designer at CBS Television and CBS Records; a period when you most of all, according to Carin herself, had to be "a cool, irreverent, experimental, hungry, talented smart-ass". In the 80's she established her own firm, Carin Goldberg Design, where she still works today. Over the following two decades she designed over 1000 books for all the largest American publishing houses. Carin Goldberg har worked with, among others, Madonna, Steve Reich, Kurt Vonnegut, and Susan Sontag. In 2009 she was rewarded the prestigious AIGA Gold Medal in recognition of her collective career.
