Review\n⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We all need some education 
As a teacher, I have noticed recently an upsurge in ADHD. I hypothesize that it has always been present, but now we are more informed about the situation. But what worries me is that parents do not seem to matter, or simply deny their kids' condition and attribute it to their age. 
A case in point occurred some days ago when a kid was taken to the psychologist for his tendency to get low grades and was diagnosed with this complex and underrated disorder. The school board gave instructions to report all similar cases of low grades. A meeting was called to discuss the issue, and we found out that at least three students in each classroom had poor grades. 
I suggested a parent's meeting to inform the issue because, after all, a kid spends more time at home than in school. I had to prepare the lecture on the topic to make the parents conscious of the danger of ADHD if left untreated. I checked my old books but then I acquired this one because I assumed it had more updated information, and I was so right! I could give a presentation easy to understand. 
Many parents agreed to observe their children and to help the school and their kids with the assistance of a therapist. According to the questions, the most alarming data was the statistics on the subject. Also, the most important information was the treatment options without medications, an invaluable knowledge in this book. 
I did not tell them my real secret: ADHD is not new to me; I have always simply looked for help. The best one is available from parents and specialists, like the material in this book.

In my daily routine, the most common cases come because the school forces the parents to seek medical attention for their kids. ADHD will not kill you, but will eventually make you more and more handicapped because you will always be erratic; it is good to know that many untreated ADHD cases, at least documented in America, have even resulted in suicide. 
However, this terrible condition can be manageable if spotted and treated at an early age. I deeply believe that we, as professionals, do a poor job if those in charge of the patients fail to see the gravity of the issue; if the family in the first place does not get involved, our job is much more difficult and the kid's future is uncertain, with all the consequences it represents for society. 
I find illuminating the section on myths about ADHD; it is a must for parents and teachers as well. The other section I found necessary for everybody was that on medication; parents must know what treatment can be given and their effects. The book also offers an interesting section on nutrition, a neglected aspect in our lives; nevertheless, that is the key to our normal functioning.
