<p>The Vice Lords have occupied more pages in the social science literature and the popular media than most other street gangs in modern American history. The subject of two books, documentary, and dozens of articles, the Vice Lords have been a pivotal actor in the history of street gangs and continue to be a major presence in the modern gang world. In part, this is due to the gang's colorful history that begins in a boys reformatory in the late 1950s and he has grown to more than 20 states in 400 cities by the mid-1990s.
