This publication, produced in collaboration with the Collection Lambert in Avignon France, provides a rare perspective on the transformation of Goldin's work with photographs produced from 1972 to today. Drawn essentially from the Collection Lambert, a unique collection built by art dealer Yvon Lambert, this publication testifies to a privileged relationship. Mézil describes the intense artist/dealer bond that produced Goldin's first show in Paris and encouraged her to undertake radically different work, including landscapes and still lifes, reproduced here. Éric Mézil is director of the Collection Lambert. Paulette Gagnon is senior curator at the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal.

Geoffrey Farmer has one of the most destabilizing voices of today's young Vancouver artists. Working mainly in installation and photography, he integrates video, performance and other means associated with conceptual art. Through an aesthetics of accumulation he explores pop culture, art history and the very act of exhibiting. Among the works presented in this first monograph are an installation originally created in a bank and a life-sized reconstitution of a Hollywood-style trailer. Refigured through an array of tangents and additions, Farmer's installations are at once subtle and overwhelming. The publication presents major works produced over the last fifteen years along with new pieces produced especially for the exhibition.

Employing virtually every sculptural technique - from moulding, casting, carving and modeling to assemblage and bricolage - Valerie Blass explores the territories between animal, human and inanimate forms, creating unique hybrid objects. The impact of Blass's work resides in the anachronistic way she navigates between two sculptural traditions. On the one hand she makes free-standing, vertical, humanscale pieces that locate her squarely within the classical tradition of figurative sculpture. On the other, the diversity of her materials and the plethora of bought and found objects she uses, stemming from an enthusiastic engagement with the material culture of the twenty-first century, anchor her art in assemblage and bricolage. A multidisciplinary artist before the invention of the term, Edmund Alleyn (1931-2004) moved from medium to medium, producing a prodigious body of work. At a time when art was defined by movements and manifestos, Alleyn's creative restlessness led him to break away from Greenbergian principles to explore new ground. In the 1950s, under the influence of Paul-Emile Borduas and Jean-Paul Riopelle, he mastered abstract modernism before taking a more personal path, notably with works influenced by West Coast Aboriginal art. By the 1970s Alleyn's preoccupations had turned to technology and his greatest work of the era is L'Introscaphe, an egg-shaped vessel that provided an immersive cinematographic environment. Unveiled at the Musee d'art moderne de la Ville de Paris in 1970, the work was experienced by hundreds of visitors. After several years in France he returned to Quebec where, inspired by the changes sweeping society, he sought to subvert the art/spectator paradigm with new works on plexiglas. Later in life Alleyn returned to painting, creating powerful works infused with sense of nostalgia and loss. His last creative period was marked by works mingling the abstract and the figurative much like those of his youth, except the once vivid colours have been replaced with somber blacks and whites. This career monograph reveals an artist whose practice truly embodies the transition from modernist to contemporary art.
