This volume features a collection of 36 editions and one painting by Richter, all from an exhibition at Belgium's Cultuurcentrum Strombeek. A short text by Robert Storr illuminates Richter's 1966 painting "Familie im Schnee" (Family in the Snow), which, copied from a photograph, exemplifies Richter's characteristic blurred brushwork.

From Hellenic Greece to Rome and Byzantium, coins functioned in part as narrative objects, engraved with images of gods and lords, planets and cities, heroes and legends. Words and Coins analyzes these copper coins in their relation to Western folklore, myth and literature, spanning the fifth century BC to the fifteenth century. Examining books and manuscripts, as well as other artifacts, the catalogue highlights and elaborates on the ongoing complex relationship between the language arts and image-making. Words and Coins examines how the two media resemble, differ and complement each other, and how their respective messages were distributed in human societies throughout the ages. This gorgeous publication, edited by Belgium-based design studio Luc Derycke, contains a photographic essay by photographer Laziz Hamani.

<p>Antoni Tàpies (1923–2012) was a lifelong collector of both contemporary and ancient art, and, as the symbolism that recurs throughout his paintings, drawings and sculptures attests, he constantly sought links between cultures, religions and epochs. This volume, organized by Tàpies’ family a year after his death, juxtaposes a selection of artworks from across the breadth of his career with paintings and prints from his collection, by artists such as Joan Miró, Paul Klee, Pablo Picasso, Max Ernst, Kazuo Shiraga, Franz Kline, Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Louise Bourgeois and Jannis Kounellis, and with ancient Cycladic, Indian, Asian and African sculptures, textiles, calligraphy and paintings. These juxtapositions highlight the continuity of Tàpies’ philosophical preoccupations and the profound resonances of his own art across cultures.</p>

Antoni Tapies: Lo Sguardo dell'Artista

In the summer of 2012, the acclaimed Belgian painter Raoul De Keyser (1930-2012) was preparing a show with David Zwirner, planned for March 2013. His friend, the photographer Jef Van Eynde, visited him that summer. "We were allowed to take a look at a new series of small paintings in his studio," Van Eynde recalls in his postscript to this volume. "In their startling simplicity, these had been reduced right down to the essential. Some of them just had an oversized hook for a hanger, with the canvas simply wrapped around a wooden board." De Keyser died in October 2012, and Van Eynde's photographs of the paintings and the titular wall upon which they were arranged are the only documentation of his intentions for the Zwirner show. This intimate volume gathers these alongside portraits of De Keyser at home and in his studio.
