Dreamland by the Sea is composed of 23 images and fragmented thoughts made in (and in relation to) Margate, England in 2017. Morris dancers lead a procession in to Dreamland — a once seaside mecca for British families in the 1950s. The ensuing imagery and text suggest a forgotten oasis — vacant landscapes depleting of pigment feel more reminiscent of a wasteland. The dreamland that transpires is both familiar and foreign, permeated by an imminent sense of unease.

Through his process I realized this project was more than justidentity, I was trying to map memory. The associations of memory began to manifestin different aspects of place, history, and connection to gender. My projectreally started from the Apache and Navajo emergent story called the "WhirlingLogs". The "Whirling Logs" is a flood story where humans gained ceremonialknowledge after surviving an extinction level flooding event. I took this modelof story and applied it to the idea of memory, where memory is passed on as knowledge,and this knowledge become part of bloodline and genetics. I also relied on the ideologyof Apache and Navajo cosmology to locate a sense of identity and place, at mytime of birth. It is these concepts which I explored in this collection ofpoetry.\nMemory is part of our connection.
