One of the Ten Commandments, as written in Exodus 20:12, tells us to "Honor thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee." This is the 1st Commandment with promise! "Dear Daddy" is a tribute to fathers and documents what in fact is far from uncommon in today's society. You see, mama and daddy separated and divorced when their three children were very young. This resulted in mama being forced to take on two roles to not only be mama, but also try to fill the role of daddy, which is one I am certain God never intended, nor one which she desired. Although we experienced a lot of difficulties while growing up, we still somehow managed to develop a bond with daddy, in spite of the adverse circumstances; one that could not be broken or destroyed, even when faced with one of the most difficult challenges of our lives - the loss of daddy. "Dear Daddy" is a story of love, pain, joy, sorrow, forgiveness, and ultimate healing that would result in the dawning of a new day. You are invited to share the trials and triumphs of not only this family, but also be inspired by an anthology of tributes, notes, and memorable moments from several others. For some reading this book, perhaps daddy is gone, and what remains are the memories of words spoken and special moments while he was here on Earth. For others, daddy is still here and he may or may not have been in the home. PORNOGRAPHY IS A PRISON – God-given desires locked behind perversion, closed doors, guilt, and condemnation.  Many who seek pleasure in it become bound, lost in an endless search for beauty and pleasure.  Pornography leads to isolation, ruined relationships, and women who suffer either in their marriages or in the horrors of human trafficking. But there is GOOD NEWS.  There is FORGIVENESS and FREEDOM.  Jesus can do what years of struggle, willpower, and self-effort can’t:  deliver you and set you free – free to enjoy all that He is.  God made men with an insatiable desire for beauty, and nothing holds men captive or inspires them more than the beauty of a woman.  Yet no woman, no life spent searching on the internet or in the bed can fully satisfy your deepest desire – the desire for beauty, pleasure, and intimacy.  But God made you for just that – to find in Him everything you saw and sought in her.  To know the God who made sex – the joyous and ecstatic expression of intimacy between a husband and wife – to foreshadow the ecstasy you will know when fully united with Him.  To be united with the One who made every woman you ever desired in His image.  To share your life with the Source of beauty you see so wonderfully formed in her.  To trust that He WILL fulfill your heart’s desires.

Progression is advantageous; therefore I dare not suggest we return to everything we used to do “Back in the Day”. I do however remember the days when our communities included everyone from our family members, neighbors, preachers, teachers, policemen, politicians, and even the owners and employees of the local corner stores. You see back then, everyone took a vested interest in the community to ensure the neighborhood was safe and the children grew up to make something of themselves. Their philosophy was each new generation was to become better than the last. Times have drastically changed however whereby our communities are now in a serious state of crisis which has created a crippling effect, and led to the diminishment of spiritual and moral values. Because of the crisis we now face, it seems logical, and also vital, that we take a moment to reflect, and perhaps even chuckle, on the things we used to do “Back in the Day” that actually worked to help build stronger homes, neighborhoods, schools, and churches.

September 11th was a day that my life was forever changed!   On that day in 2004, my daughter Octavia, affectionately known as Tavi, and my son Christopher Jr., affectionately known as C.J., were crossing a street in our Nation's Capital when they were both struck down by a suspect who was fleeing police during a high speed chase.     Perhaps you can imagine the pain my heart was feeling; a pain that's indescribable, but one that has become all too familiar for many parents who've had to bury their children.   While going through the difficult process of learning to live with the loss of my two youngest children, I remained determined to Hold To God's Unchanging Hands.  In doing so, God brought me to a place where I have begun to experience true joy, peace, comfort, and healing, and I thank Him for that.   Now I invite you to share my journey to recovery after the loss of my babies, which has led to a road of faith, forgiveness, and victory!

Have you ever asked the question "Who am I?"  Many individuals will confront the issue of "Who Am I?" at some point during their lifetime.  An individual without knowledge of his true identity will wander aimlessly through life. A person who is not sure of their true identity can be identified as someone being like a "ship without a sail."  They do not know who they are, where they came from, or where they are going.  Even if they knew where they were going, they would not know how to get there.  Can you imagine being someone who has an aimless life?   If you were asked to identify yourself you would probably do what I often do which is state your name - I am... But is your name really who you are?  There are many descriptions we attach to our identity and our name is only one of them. Many people identify themselves with their jobs, relationships, titles, and even their social status.  To answer the question "Who am I?" requires that we know our origin, our purpose, and our future.  For only in knowing where we come from, why we are here and where we are going can we come to a proper conclusion regarding who we are.  We cannot find our true identity apart from God.  All identity apart from a relationship with God, our Creator, is false and incomplete.  Therefore, as we struggle with the question "Who am I?" we must realize that our identity cannot be discovered within ourselves or the world around us.  Our purpose and identity are found in God. Whenever a person is faced with an identity crisis, it is God who is the¬¬¬ remedy.  He is the only remedy¬; once we arrive at this realization, we no longer need to wander around in the wilderness of life or like a "ship without a sail."
