After thirty-eight days of surgeries, skin grafts, perpetual physical therapy, and excruciating pain, she had to discover how to live again. It's what you do with that moment that defines you--how you turn your scars into a beautiful life.I am Kilee Brookbank, and this story is about my journey not only to recovery but also to finding myself amidst my scars, both physical and emotional, after my house exploded all around me. My body was burned over 40 percent--but it didn't kill me or my spirit. Nothing would ever be the same for me and for those around me, and honestly, that might be OK.Over the past year, I've struggled to become myself again and in the process realized I'm not the same person. I'm stronger than ever. I understand myself, and I don't worry about things that don't matter.My book aims to encourage everyone dealing with an issue of their own. I want to show them they can overcome anything and use tragedies and challenges to bring into focus the person they're meant to be.My story is not just about surviving the explosion, but living my life after it. This experience has been tough, but I'm tougher.</p>
