George K. Makechie, a long-time friend and colleague of Howard Thurman, is eminently well qualified to write this memoir of the distinguished philosopher, theologian and preacher. Dean of Boston University Sargent College of Allied Health Professions when Howard Thurman began his tenure as Dean of the Chapel on that campus, Makechnie became Dean Emeritus on retirement. He is chairman of the Boston University Howard Thurman Center and a co-founder of the Howard Thurman Fellowship at Boston University, and is an honorary trustee of the Howard Thurman Educational Trust. Dean Makechnie is the author of Optimal Health: The Quest (Boston University: 1979)
