The color plates in "Painting Point Reyes" are of landscapes of the Point Reyes area. The three essays are written by well known writer and journalist Judy Coburn, John Clarke art historian, and artist Susan Hall. Coburn's essay is about the cultural history of Point Reyes, Clarke discusses the art historical aspects of Hall's work and Susan Hall writes about her relationship to the landscape paintings in the book.

Susan Hall has exhibited her work in the United States and abroad for the last fifty years. She has had solo shows at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Hall's ceramics feature dozens of subjects, from mice to sheep to persimmons to dogs. Her plates featuring mice and their love of cheese have been sold through Tomales Bay Foods/ Cowgirl Creamery for over 20 years. This book captures Susan's relationship to and lifelong love of West Marin, and the special attributes it has.
