<p>This book is an expanded version of the author's previous text published with Springer in 2000. This book consists of two parts. In the first part, the author discusses the path integral quantization of various physical systems, emphasizing the path integral quantization of gauge fields and spontaneous symmetry breaking. Also discussed are anomalies and the connection of path integral formalism with the canonical formalism of quantum theory. The second part is devoted to stochastic methods in theoretical physics. The Hida distribution approach to path integral quantization and Parisi-Wu stochastic quantization are discussed with minimal mathematical prerequisites. At the end of each chapter, problem sets are provided which illustrate the technical details of the main text or extend the discussion using alternate methods. This book is intended for use by senior undergraduate students or first year graduate students in science and engineering. It also makes an excellent reference. Michio Masujima is the author of two earlier books. Path Integral Quantization and Stochastic Quantization, Springer Tracts on Modern Physics, Vol. 165, Springer-Verlag, was published in 2000. Applied Mathematical Methods in Theoretical Physics, Wiley-VCH, was published in 2005. Dr. Masujima received a PH.D. in applied mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1983. For many years he was a member of the computational physics group at the NEC Fundamental Research Laboratory. He resides in Tokyo.</p>
