<p>This introduction accompanies a reprinted book "Organizing for Work" written by Henry Laurence Gantt in 1919. The introduction explores how early management styles and principles of leadership are accepted in today's business environment. This research examines the evolution of management thought over the past century. It is interesting and insightful to realize the challenges of early managers and understand those challenges are not that different from today. The parallels of management between 1900 and 2006 are remarkable. "Organizing for Work" by Henry Laurence Gantt remains valuable even though it is out of publication at this time. It is my contention that republishing this valuable work, with an introduction explaining it's relevance to management thought and today's issues, will help strengthen knowledge in the management field.</p>
