From 1998 to 2000 the Nordic countries enacted new data protection acts. The reason for these new acts was the implementation of directive 95/46 EC. The purpose of this book is to introduce these new laws and to explain how the individual act fits into the national legal tradition and culture. From this perspective unsolved or future aspects of data protection are outlined.

The field of Senior Citizens and information and communication technology (ICT) is a rather new field and there is not much published in this area yet. For many years the relationship between seniors and ICT has mainly been discussed in terms of how technology can be used to compensate for the impairments many old people have to face. In this volume, we take another point of departure. First of all, we do not understand Senior Citizens to be a homogeneous group where all people over a certain age are impaired, and in the need of help. 31 March 2004 the EU adopted two new public procurement directives: one for the public sector (2004/18/EC) and one for utilities (2004/17/EC). The new directives aim at simplification and modernisation of the previously existing directives including adaptation to electronic purchasing techniques. On 4-5 November 2004 the Copenhagen Business School organised a European research conference on the new directives.
