The conference covers recent experimental and theoretical advances in the study of the nature of photons at high energy. These photons are studied at large particle accelerators, such as the LEP accelerator based in Geneva, Switzerland, and the HERA accelerator in Hamburg, Germany. The prospects for this work at planned future accelerators are also described.

The proceedings of the fifth in a series of workshops on the physics and detectors for the next generation of e+e- at the linear colliders are focused on the motivation and requirements for the next generation of high energy physics accelerators. Possible technical specifications for the possible accelerator complex as well as experimental aspects of the physics program are presented. Comprehensive studies of the physics potential of the linear colliders, carried out in Asia, Europe, and the United States, are reviewed and discussed. The Gamma-Ray Astrophysics 2001 Symposium offered the opportunity for participants to discuss important results from the nine years of operations of the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory (CGRO), which ceased operations on June 4, 2000. Discussions also included new results from current missions such as HETE-II, Chandra, and XMM-Newton. In addition, results from ground-based VHE gamma-ray and radion observatories, and other ground-based and space missions related to high energy astrophysical sources were discussed. On the horizon, new gamma-ray space telescopies like GLAST, Swift, INTEGRAL, and AGILE will be launched in the next few years. Papers include mission capabilities and anticipated science from these upcoming missions.
