The Standards for a Patient Blood Management Program (PBM Standards) can help facilities that are implementing or enhancing patient blood management efforts to have a solid foundation for maintaining and optimizing the care of patients who may or may not need transfusion. Like other AABB standards, the requirements in this edition include over-arching quality standards as well as specific technical standards all firmly grounded in a quality systems framework. Unlike other AABB standards, the requirements in this edition are organized to reflect the wide range of clinical services offered by different hospitals.
