Stories Of Kindness

Here are a dozen stories featuring benevolent acts by Chinese historical figures, ranging from the founder of the Shang dynasty, Shang Tang, to Li Shizhen, the great pharmacologist. Each story exemplifies 'ren', the essence of kindness, one of the eight cardinal virtues of traditional Chinese culture. It is a virtue that knows no language or cultural barriers.
