Incidents of Travel in Yucatan, in Two Volumes, Volume Two

John Lloyd Stephens (1805-1852) was an explorer, writer, and diplomat who played a key role in archaeological investigation of Mayan culture and sites in central America. This book, volume two of a two-volume set released in 1963, is an unabridged re-printing of Stephens' book originally published by Harper & Brothers in 1843. This book has been called both an archaeological record and a travel adventure because the author is a vivid storyteller as well as a scientific investigator. The text also reproduces all 120 sketches from the original manuscript.
