English Suites

An Urtext edition of Bach's English suites for piano. Each suite consists of several dance movements: Prelude, Allemande, Courante, Bourree, Gigue, and other forms. With the exception of the first suite, all the opening movements are in Da capo form. In this edition, all repeats are fully written out, with the rhythm of the final bars completed following the traditional manner. A detailed account of all important discrepancies between the sources in given in the notes to assist the performer in choosing between versions in particular cases.
