Recent Trends in Indian English: A Linguistic Study of Print Media

English has emerged as a global language in recent times. From being known as Queen s English , it now claim to have developed different varieties across the globe, based on the usage of speakers who have moulded it to meet their needs in a situation when English is not their mother tongue. And Indian English is one of them. This book examines the important features of Indian English. Tracing the history of English language in India, it takes a close look at the variety that has come to be dissociated from British English by the use of this very label, Indian English . Based on a survey of written English language of Indian national newspaper, journals, bulletins and notices, it presents a detailed analysis of the lexicosemantic features of the language to observe whether they help define Indian English as a separate variety.
