Institution and Home explores the concepts of institutionality and home, and compares various institutional and home environments and identifies the attitudes and behaviors associated with diverse housing settings and the design elements that generate and express them. It explains the reasons why we fear living in institutional settings, for example showing how institutional environments can contribute to a loss of autonomy.
