The Lovers
Description:
The lovers [published on occasion of the Exhibition the Lovers, the Great Wall Walk, Marina Abramović and Ulay in Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam ... Wexner Center for the Visual Arts, The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio]. Marina Abramovic (Belgrade, 1946) and Ulay (Solingen, 1943) have been performing performances, performances in 1975 as they became known worldwide. Their last project undoubtedly speaks the most to imagination: Ulay and Marina run individually, over the Chinese Wall, and meet after three months halfway, to break their cooperation forever. The project, rich in historical, mythological, artistic, philosophical, but also personal and adventurous dimensions, resulted in a film and exhibition. In this beautifully crafted book, their sculptures are depicted together with dozens of particularly beautiful color photographs of China. The two texts by the artists and the engaging, highly readable and informative report of travel companion McEvilly give a wonderful impression of a remarkable and profound artist project. Beautiful typography, this pressure. Contains biographies, exhibition lists, introductions by F. Lubbers, W. Beeren and D. Mignot.
