The American atlas (Theatrum orbis Terrarum, a series of atlases in facsimile)
Description:
The American Atlas was first published in 1776 in London, and consisted of twenty-nine maps made by one of the most renowned cartographers of the day, Thomas Jefferys. To celebrate the American Bicentennial in 1976, Nottingham Court Press produced a facsimile of the American Atlas, limited to 200 copies. The company ceased trading, and a forgotten stock of copies recently came to light at the binders. Copies of the original change hands at $100,000 or more and are extremely rare. This facsimile offers the opportunity to possess a fine reference facsimile of a milestone of mapping and of American cartographic history.
