Francesco Vezzoli

One of the new generation of Italian artists, Francesco Vezzoli creates video works and needlepoints that mix together pop culture icons, auteur cinema, art history, the fashion world, elegance, kitsch, and camp. By embroidering a trail of tears or blood on the iconic faces of Veruschka, Helmut Berger, Joan Crawford, Audrey Hepburn, and Anna Magnani, and by creating innovative videoworks with them, Vezzoli restores to their surfaces a depth of feeling in this, his first monograph.
