Atene: Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center

This is the eighth volume in the series of monographs devoted to the projects of the world renowned architect Renzo Piano.Using material taken from the Renzo Piano archives and using images that are largely previously unpublished it explores the creation of the new building in Athens that houses the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), which will contain the National Library of Greece and the Greek National Opera.The building is set within the Stavros Niarchos park, and thus a new urban icon has arisen, that enables both Greek citizens and global visitors to experience art and education set within a green space.As with previous volumes in this series, the project is reconstructed from the architect's personal files and follows the creative route, from his first visit to the site to its eventual inauguration, using his sketches, ideas, models, photographs, drawings, plans and memoirs to tell the story of this remarkable building in a manner that will be of great interest to architects and students now and in the future
