This volume—in German text—is the first edition of an 8.80 m long demotic account papyrus, one of the longest extant papyri. P. Carlsberg 409 provides detailed information on the delivery and distribution of wine at Edfu in the year 132/131 BC, i.e. the 39th regnal year of Ptolemy VIII Euergetes II. This edition contains a palaeographical and philological commentary as well as a study of the administration and economy of the Horus temple at Edfu in Upper Egypt.
