Spanish-born, New York-based painter Manolo Vald s (born 1942) makes multiple extrapolations of classic images of art history. For his Matador Artist's Portfolio, Vald s dismantles and reconstructs Vel zquez's portrait of the Infanta Maria Theresa in six interpretations that vary in idiom from the Cubistic to the abstract.
