Description:
A bilingual (English / Japanese) edition of Basic Vocabulary in Use (With Answers) (052178865X), targeted at learners in Japan whose mother tongue is Japanese and whose command of English is relatively weak. The classic In Use format remains, with explanation and examples on the left page followed by exercises on the right. As in the original, there are three appendices, an index and an answer key. In the Japanese Edition, lexical explanation and terminology, individual lexical items and example sentences / parts of sentences, are translated on the left page. On the right page, exercise instructions are translated. There is a modest amount of content adaptation, typically consisting of additional explanation or examples for lexical areas that pose problems specific to Japanese learners. As the book is for sale in the locally produced section of Japanese bookstores, the dimensions of the book have been reduced to enable shelving. The page extent remains the same as in the original. Basic Vocabulary in Use (Japanese Edition) does not contain a CD.
